Aphorism 75

Aphorism 75 Explained Chronic diseases due to allopathic non-healing art is difficult to cure.  While speaking of various types of diseases, Dr. Hahnemann says that artificial chronic diseases taking place due to allopathic non healing art is most deplorable and incurable as it is impossible to hit upon the remedies for their cure, when they are much advanced.  Although, Dr. Hahnemann had called these iatrogenic diseases difficult to cure and no doubt they are due to above mentioned reason, but now a days we generally encounter these diseases in daily practice which can be handled by using the rubric - "Medicament abuse of" or "Drug abuse".  ▲ In advanced cases there remains only common pathological symptoms pertaining to the disease. To handle such cases where individualistic peculiarity of the patient is lacking -  1. Concept of pathological generals by Dr. C. M. Boger can be used.  2. Clinical rubrics or clinical repertories can be used.

Aphorism 74 explanation Formation of artificial chronic disease.   Having classified acute diseases, Dr. Hahnemann goes further to tell about chronic diseases, he initially takes up artificial chronic disease whose characters are - 1. Most commonly met chronic disease.  2. Produced in allopathic treatment by prolonged use of - violent heroic medicines in large and increasing doses, by the abuse of Calomel, Corrosive sublimate, Mercurial ointment, Nitrate of silver, Iodine and its ointments, Opium, Valerian, Cinchona bark and Quinine, Foxglove, Prussic acid, Sulphur and Sulphuric acid, perennial purgatives etc. Venesections, shedding streams of blood, leeches, issues, setons, etc.  Due to these assaults either the patient dies or the organism in order to save itself does any one of the following -  1. Aphorism 73 easy explanation Different types of acute diseases.  Further, classifying acute diseases, Dr. Hahnemann says that acute diseases can be of following types;  1. Individual acute disease-  a) Caused by exciting cause.  b) Causes can be - Excess of food or its insufficient supply. Severe physical impression like chills, overheating dissipation, strains etc.  Physical irritations.  Mental emotions.  c)It is transient explosion of latent Psora.   d) If the acute disease is not of too violent character, transient explosion of latent Psora returns to its dormant state soon.  2. Aphorism 72 Explanation Acute and chronic diseases.  In previous section, Dr. Hahnemann asks the physician that how they are going to ascertain what is necessary for them to know in order to cure the disease. Answering this question, he says that initially physician is to know whether the case before him is that of the acute or chronic disease - thereby he gives general chronic to be fulfilled by a case to be called acute or chronic.  Case is acute, if it is of -  1. Sudden onset.  2.Rapid progress.  3. Finishes its course quickly in moderate time.  4. Either it finishes its course or takes life of the patient labouring under it, due to its violence.  Case is chronic, if it is of-  1. Slow and insidious onset.  2. Gradual progression.  3. Aphorism 71 explanation Review of previous aphorisms.  In this section Dr. Hahnemann gives a brief review of what he had said in previous sections. So, he says that now there should not be any doubt that -  1. Diseases are group of symptoms.  2. Disease can be removed and transformed into health by medicinal substances. produce symptoms similar to that of the disease in hand in  3.
