Explanation of Aphorism 92
Conjoint malady.
In case of chronic diseases patient can be left with some unmedicated substance for some time, so that his actual symptoms appear enabling physician to form true portrait of the disease. But in acute diseases due to its severity and fear of eminent death, he cannot adopt the very process he adopts in chronic diseases rather he takes into account conjoint malady formed by features of original disease and medicinal action to form portrait of disease i.e. he only sees the present condition and prescribes for its totality.
If patient is given inappropriate drugs then condition becomes more serious and dangerous than the original disease, thereby requiring prompt relief; which end can be reached by taking into account conjoined malady, saving the patient to fall sacrifice to the injurious effect of drugs he has taken.
