Aphorism 60

Simplified explanation of Aphorism 60

Inefficacy of antipathy.
Summing up inefficacy of antipathy, Dr. Hahnemann says that on encountering conjoined aggravation of disease along with medicine, physicians are in habit of increasing the dose of medicine. Consequently, much greater transient suppression is effected this goes on and ultimately diseases are not cured, - rather more serious disease ensue endangering life.

► In footnote, after having said what has been already said in this section, Dr. Hahnemann mentions about Brousseau -
# Around twenty years back from writing Organon, Brousseau, in France condemned practice of poly- pharmacy and poly-prescription by calling it senseless mixing of different drugs and ended its reign in France - for this mankind is grateful to him.

#He introduces physiological system, through which he found the easier way to quiet sufferings of patients laboring under any disease by extinguishing life, by taking away irreplaceable vital fluid from the body.

#According to him blood in excess was responsible for many forms of diseases for which he formulated venesection, leeching, cupping etc.

#He did not take into notice the homoeopathic system, which had been already established during his time, rather introduced a new system for which Dr. Hahnemann chided.

#Due to loss of vital fluid, patient grew too weak to react against any ailment rather he becomes much quiet due to weakness, which seems as apparent improvement. This method is repeated as the complaint returns and the vicious cycle is initiated again. Gradually, if the patient regains strength, he is kept on hunger diet. Being deprived of food his life is so much depressed that he could not protest the similar treatment undergone previously. Ultimately, death quite all sufferings and the relatives remain surprised and cannot understand why the patient died in spite of the improvement. They console themselves by believing that the disease from beginning was fatal and nothing could be done in spite of the best effort of physician - but only God knows what was done.

# Without any apparent action, tasteless Gum Arabic solution - Eau de Gourme, was used, and was almost the only medicine that Brousseau used.

#Dr. Hahnemann says that thinking is the most laborious work under sun, so physicians of Europe accepted his convenient theory of all diseases as per single rule. Thereby, by following Brousseau's method more curable patients were killed than those killed in Napoleon's battle field.

Aphorism 85

Explanation of Aphorism 84 Procedure to be adapted in writing.  While the patient narrates his sufferings the physician begins to write every new circumstance with a fresh line and leaves a few lines before beginning a new symptom, so that he could add to any line the matter which had not been explained properly.  Some physicians while taking up the case writes rubrics instead of whole symptoms as instructed in this section, saving their time. But whenever that record is seen much is lost as the exact expression and words of patient is missing and we find only interpretation of the physician in the form of rubrics - which if goes wrong is tough to rectify due to absence of full symptoms.

Aphorism 103

Explanation of Aphorism 103 In chronic diseases Psora should be investigated.  In case of epidemic diseases homoeopathic medicine pertaining to it could be found by observing several patients suffering from same epidemic. Similar is the case with chronic miasm Psora, which is so diversified in its manifestation that it requires several patients of different constitution and living under different conditions suffering from Psora to be observed carefully to know the complete range of symptoms it can produce. Only then a homoeopathic antipsoric medicine can be selected which can cure it. #Aphorism103
