Aphorism 41

Aphorism 41

Formation of complex disease due to allopathic medication.

In previous section, formation of natural complex disease is mentioned, here Dr. Hahnemann says that due to long continued employment of unsuitable allopathic medicines, often due to much repetition, a new, often very tedious morbid constitution peculiar to artificial morbific agent combines and complicate with chronic malady - giving patient a double disease; being unable to cure the existing disease due to dissimilarity. This makes the patient much worse and difficult to cure, often incurable. These types of cases are frequently met in medical journal seeking advice, firmly attesting to the truth of it.

Person, who is suffering from syphilis when treated with large doses of mercury in unsuitable form, medicine adds its own symptoms like swelling and ulceration of bone. If this person is already suffering from developed Psora, or latent Psora or Sycosis then the person's Syphilis is not only complicated with other miasm, but also with unsuitable mercurial treatment in large doses adding mercurial disease to it. If the person has latent Psora then the mercurial cachexia (weakness caused by unsuitable mercurial treatment.) awakens latent Psora to its developed state in which it can combine with Syphilis and forms a complex disease such cases where unsuitable mercurial treatment is unable to cure Syphilis but adds mercurial disease is called masked venereal disease; such complex diseases are much difficult to cure

► In footnote Dr. Hahnemann says that mercury has many symptoms similar to Syphilis and by virtue of its homoeopathicity it can cure it, but when employed in large doses it produces other symptoms mimicking Syphilis like swelling and ulceration of bones, profuse salivation etc. and cause new malady, disturbing body at its utmost extent especially when it is complicated with Psora.

A Dr. Hahnemann gave example of masked venereal disease which occurs due to injudicious use of Mercury. In today's scenario number of complicated diseases occur due to injudicious employment of medicines may it be of any school. Even so called homoeopathic physicians are not lagging behind in this act!

Aphorism 85

Explanation of Aphorism 84 Procedure to be adapted in writing.  While the patient narrates his sufferings the physician begins to write every new circumstance with a fresh line and leaves a few lines before beginning a new symptom, so that he could add to any line the matter which had not been explained properly.  Some physicians while taking up the case writes rubrics instead of whole symptoms as instructed in this section, saving their time. But whenever that record is seen much is lost as the exact expression and words of patient is missing and we find only interpretation of the physician in the form of rubrics - which if goes wrong is tough to rectify due to absence of full symptoms.
